Noah Woodruff Allen, Jr. (Inky) went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sat., Aug. 8, 2015, after a brief, courageous battle with cancer. He was born June 21, 1937 in Wilmington, NC to the late Noah Woodruff Allen, Sr. and Fannie Rae Allen. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Allen, and his second wife, Vernie Rogers Armstrong Allen. He is survived by his six children, Noah Woodruff Allen, III, Wendy Savage, Joni A. Sloter (Eric), Janet A. Hill (Scott), Kimrey A. Hilton (Ed), and Charlotte A. Safrit (Mike), brother Tommy Allen (Karen), sister Mary Beth Poff (Bucky), and eight grandchildren, Annie, Adam, Laurel, Graham, Madeline, Michael, Callie, and Fulton. He graduated from New Hanover High School in 1955, attended Mars Hill College, and served in the U. S. Army in Korea. He spent many years in his family's farm supply business and then in the hardware business. He and Vernie were members of Calvary Baptist Church, and upon her passing, he was a member of Ogden Baptist Church. He was a wonderful Christian role model for his family. He enjoyed singing hymns and his greatest joy was in spending time with his family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Inky's memory can be made to the N. C. Baptist Children's Home or the Lower Cape Fear Hospice. Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 10, 2015 at 11:00 a. m. at Ogden Baptist Church with burial to follow immediately at Town Creek Baptist Church, Winnabow, N. C.
