She graduated from St. Edward High School in 1939. On April 21, 1950 she was united in marriage to Norman Kummetz in Columbus. Doris worked for JCPenney in Albion and the Blue Bird Dress Shop in Columbus for 30 years before retiring in 1982. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Eagles Auxiliary, and bowled for several years. She enjoyed baseball games, flowers, and her dog Trixie.
