John’s love for farming along with his work brought him the honor of being named a Master Conservationist. His abilities were endless and they proved himself of this honor.
John is survived by his wife of 56 yrs, Martha Nell Ross Lamar; a son, John Ray Lamar Jr. and wife, Kathy of Nicholasville, KY; two daughters, Barbara McGowan and husband Brad, Carolyn Lamar and fiancé Richard Nowlin all of Kevil, KY, four grandchildren, John Ashley Lamar, Lauren Lamar, John Ray Lamar III and Steven McGowan; four great grandchildren, Awstyn, Braylee, Zoe and Brodey Lamar; two sisters, Stella Barnes and husband Bobby of Paducah, KY and Ruby Rogers and husband Ovid of TN; one brother, Donald ‘Louie’ Lamar of Los Angeles, CA; as will as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant sister and sisters, Mary Helen Lamar and Mildred Pace. His parents were, Ashley ‘Buck’ and Rachael Garnett Lamar
