A SAD DEATH – Grace, the ten-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Deupree, died at the residence in this city last Saturday night at 10:30 o’clock. Her illness dates only from the preceding Tuesday, when she was taken sick with scarlet fever, and from the first the disease was of a malignant form, diphtheria also having manifested itself to further complicate matters. Everything that physicians and loving hands could do was done, but to no avail, and at the hour above mentioned death came to the little sufferer.
Grace was an especially bright and lovable little girl and was a favorite among all her acquaintances and schoolmates, and her untimely taking off is deeply felt by all who knew her.
Because of the contagious character of the disease, no funeral services were held at the home. The remains were taken to Edinburg Monday morning by carriage and short services were held at the grave, conducted by Rev. C. R. Hudson of the Christian church of this city.
