Vern Long
OTTUMWA – Vernice "Vern" Long, 75, of 725 S. Lillian died at 8:50 a.m. March 10, 1994, at University Hospitals in Iowa City.
He was born April 16, 1918, in Tuttle, Okla., to Van and Elsie Ewing Long.
He served in World War II in the Army and was a longtime employee of Douds Stone.
He is survived by a son, LaVerne Long of Cincinnati, Ohio; three grandchildren; a brother, Bill Long of Moravia; and a sister, Enid Hiatt of Kansas City, Mo.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Long.
The service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, the Rev. Loyd Osborn of High Point Foursquare Gospel Church officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
Visitation is open after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Memorials may be made to Cerebral Palsy.
Pallbearers will be Larry, Rick, Kenny, Jay and Paul Long and Jerry Brisendine.
