He was a Green Beret combat veteran in Viet Nam and came to McAlester as an Army recruiter. He and Vonda were married in 1975. He also worked as a shop foreman and driver for Big Mac Tank Truck Lines before leaving the McAlester area in 1981 to become a construction worker in Greeley, Colorado and Oklahoma City. He and Vonda's lives were taken by Vonda's son, Sean Sellers while they were sleeping.
