Anne Wakefield, 79, of Nevada, passed away Saturday, September 20, 2014, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Anne was born April 4, 1935, in Nevada to Franklin "Mac" and Ina (Beam) Allen. She graduated from Milford High School and had attended the Iowa Teachers College. On December 14, 1952, Anne was united in marriage to John Wakefield at Central Presbyterian Church in Nevada. She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church, P.E.O., Questers, Indian Creek Country Club and several Bridge clubs. Anne enjoyed traveling, reading, cooking and loved being with her family and grandchildren.

Anne is survived by her husband, John of Nevada; her sons, Mike (Kathy) Wakefield of Des Moines and Ted Wakefield of Ames; her daughter, Lori (Lloyd) Jackson of Woodward; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Bill Allen; and one sister, Patty Britson.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, September 24, at Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada (1418 Fawcett Parkway). Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 25, at Central Presbyterian Church in Nevada (932 5th Street) with inurnment following at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Central Presbyterian Church, the Alzheimer's Association or the Nevada Public Library.
