Anna Magdelena (Magda) Shoffeitt, 87, died Monday, August 3, 2015 at her residence. Magda was born in Augsburg, Germany. She came to America as the war bride of Morris Shoffeitt in 1948. They lived in Alabama until 1955 when they moved to Athens, Georgia. Magda was employed as a supervisor at Fritzmar sewing plant until it closed down. A talented seamstress, she made many beautiful garments for herself & friends. She was of Roman Catholic faith, & served as a volunteer at St Mary’s Hospital for over 30 years. The YMCA was her favorite place to exercise, & she spent many happy times with her special group of Y traveling friends. Preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, she had no living relatives, but was deeply loved by her God daughter Valentine Hyde & her family David & Landon Hyde, & many, many good friends. Service will be held at the St. Joseph Church Saturday, August 8 the at 10:30 am. Donations may be made to the The Athens Area Humane Society, 1781 Mars Hill Road, Watkinsville, GA 30677 or the St. Joseph's Catholic Church Building Fund, 34 Prince Ave, Athens, GA 30601. Lord & Stephens East is in charge of arrangements.
