George W. South Jr. was born on June 21, 1910, in Fargo, North Dakota. His father, George Sr. died shortly before his birth, leaving behind his pregnant wife, Susanna E. Zimmerman South and 3 children [ Sarah, Allen and Lisle]. George Jr. married Ilma E Schlenker South on December 31, 1941, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. George and Ilma had one child George 'Rickey' South. George died on January 28, 2007, in Elmira, New York, at the age of 96, and was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery.
