Monument dedicated in Hanna Cemetery, September 27, 1900.

Ensign in Colonial Service March 25, 1756 in Rev John Steele's Company of Cumberland County Rangers. Private in Revolutionary Service in Colonel Robert Adam's Company, Sixth Battalion.
Husband of Jeanette Quigley.

It is believed that James Quigley was a brother of Henry Quigley (1702-1786), who settled in East Pennsboro Township, in Cumberland County. Children of Henry Quigley include Christopher (1740-1813), Henry (1745-1806), and John (d. 1784).

John P. Quigley, son of Daniel, is likely a cousin in the East Pennsboro line of Quigleys. A traceable line to Daniel, however, cannot be found from Henry Quigley, Sr. Family Tree Y DNA shows one descendant of John P. Quigley as having taken a test (but only to 37 markers). Kit number 763809 currently shows Y Haplogroup I-M223, though this is not a terminal haplogroup, and requires further testing.

Some descendants of Philip Quigley (b. ca.1703, Ireland - d. 1751, NJ) claim James Quigley (1710-1782) was a brother to Philip [being sons of Daniel Quigley (1680-1759), and Susannah Yerto]. One descendant in the Philip Quigley line tested to BY39719, which would not be in the same haplogroup stream (M223) identified to the descendant of John P. Quigley, mentioned above. Additionally, the Philip Quigley test taker does, however, appear as a close match with two descendants of James Quigley (b. ca. 1776, Delaware), who tested to BY39720.

We need a male Quigley descendant of James Quigley (1710-1782) to test Y, to help (hopefully) solve this question.
