Please Note: According to the Iowa Deaths & Burial Record in ancestry.com, Ida died February 27, 1909, in Ottumwa, and she was buried in Chillicothe, Iowa, on February 28. Her obituaries indicate that she died February 18, 1909, and she is buried in Shaul Cemetery, here in Ottumwa. The following two obituaries from Ottumwa Tri-Weekly Courier are in the public domain and the originals may also be viewed online.

Mrs. E.H. Walker Passes Away.

The death last evening of Mrs. Ida Walker, wife of E.H. Walker, 406 Chester avenue was received with profound sorrow by her many friends and neighbors by whom she was very highly esteemed and of whom she numbered many. Death came peacefully at 8:30 p.m. after an illness of long standing, as she had been ailing for a long time. She was aged 51 [sic] years at the time of her death. The funeral will be announced later.

(Note: This obituary, was republished on Saturday from Friday's Daily. Friday would have been February 19, and that original obituary stated she died "last night," which would have been February 18.)

Mrs. Ida Cresswell Walker.

Mrs. Ida Cresswell Walker was born near Bonaparte, Iowa, January 12, 1857 and died at her late home on Chester avenue, Ottumwa, Iowa, February 18, 1909. She was united in marriage to E.H. Walker of Keosauqua, Iowa, October 23, 1884. For several years they resided in Keosauqua moving from there to Ottumwa, where they have since resided.

Four children were born to this union, two of whom died in infancy. Clarence S. and Alice are left to comfort the bereaved father and husband. Five brothers and one sister, living were all present at the funeral. Mrs. Walker was for many years a member of the Willard Street M.E. church and led a faithful Christian life. After years of weakness and suffering she has gone beyond the suffering to her eternal rest.

Our hearts go out in sympathy to the bereft loved ones and may God comfort them is our prayer.–Contributed.
