Amory – Sibyl Burrow Hathcock, 85, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 2015, at home, under the care of Gentiva Hospice. Born July 11, 1930, in Monroe County, she was the daughter of the late Weir and Donnie Burrow. She married Hoyet Hathcock July 4, 1947. She was a stay-at-home mother for many years and later worked for South Central Bell in Mobile and Tuscaloosa, Ala.. She was a nurse at West Alabama Hospital in Northport, Ala., until her retirement in 1988. As the wife of a minister, she moved many times in her married life, living in Mississippi, Tennessee and Alabama. She was a faithful companion, who loved her husband and children, and was always cheerful as she relocated and set up housekeeping many times over. Her children would learn that home was not a house but rather where your family was. Mrs. Hathcock took pride in all the things she did from being a Christian, wife, mother, homemaker, nurse, to later being a grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved gardening and traveling with her husband. As a couple in their later life, they were known to just throw a suitcase in the car and head for Mt. View, Arkansas, without notifying anyone until they got there. Funeral services will be 3 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015, at Amory Church of Christ with Mr. James L. Segars and Bobby Cleveland officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery. Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home of Amory is in charge of the arrangements.
