son of Thomas Cummings Vincent and Chloe Dell of Bayham, Elgin Co. Ontario Canada. Lewis was born in Willoughby, Lincoln-Wellard Co. Ontario Canada. Willoughby has been annexed to Niagera Falls now.
Lewis J Vincent came to Bayham Township, Elgin Co. Ontario Canada when he was a child, prior to 1851. Before this the family resided in Willoughby, Township Lincoln-Wellard Co. Ontario Canada. Records in Canada indicate that Lewis' father, Thomas Cummings Vincent owned 170 acres in concession 19 North Gore lot as early as 1851. At Thomas' death he owned lot 19 and 20 in North Gore, Bayham Township. Lewis also resided and farmed in Bayham Township until Abt 1882-83. In the 1884 Mecosta County Michigan Index Louis Vincent is listed as a farmer owning land in Section 36 of Austin Township, Altona. The last child born in Canada for Lewis and Sarah is Bernice in 1877 and her baptism is recorded as June 17 1879 in Bayham. Margret and Clara (Jennie) were both born in Michigan. about 1889 Lewis moved his family to Reeder Township Missaukee Co. Michigan to an area called Sandstown. Death records state that Lewis died July 19,1894 of Pneumonia. The record was not recorded until 1895. The Vincent Family bible belonging to Lewis and Sarah indicate Lewis died June 4 1892. Also a receipt for a grave plot Section 42 lot C of Old Reeder Cemetery, now old Lake City Cemetery on Highway 55 just outside Lake City, shows the date of purchase being April 1892 for $1.50.
