Helen (Adams) Vander Woude, the daughter of Herbert and Grace (Hubbard) Adams, was born at Spen­cer, Iowa, on October 2, 1916. She lived her youth at Spencer and was a gradu­ate of the Spencer High School.

On November 30, 1937, Helen was united in marriage to Willis Vander Woude at Spencer, Iowa, and to this union three sons were born. Following their marriage, they operated the DX Station in Sanborn where Helen served as the bookkeeper for many years. Willis died on October 2, 1974. Helen died on March 29, 1993, at the Valley Lutheran Hospital at Mesa, Arizona at the age of 76 years, 5 months, 27 days.

Helen is survived by her children: Calvin of Palm Springs, Calif, Willis Jr. of Phoenix, Arizona, Merle and Gayle of Sanborn, six grandchildren, three great­grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four sisters, and two brothers.

Helen was a member of the First Re­formed Church of Sanborn, the RC.W. and a Church Circle, a Bridge Club, and the 20th Century Club. Helen enjoyed people very much and spending time with her family and friends.

Funeral services were held April 2, 1993 at the First Reformed Church at Sanborn with Rev. Kenneth Tenckinck officiating.Casket bearers were Eugene Elgersma,Doug Elgersma, Roy Christoffels, Dr. Robert Scholten, Rod Douma and Rob­ert Douma. Burial was in Rose land Cemetery, Sanborn with the Sanborn Funeral in charge.
