Mrs. Bessie Mabel Shifflett, 63, died of a heart attack yesterday at her home near Charlottesville. Born Aug. 21, 1903, in Albemarle County, she was a daughter of the late, James Willis and Mary Leake Moyer.

She is survived by her husband, Albert M. Shifflett; seven sons, Rea Shifflett of Waynesboro. Albert M. Shifflett Jr. of Baltimore, John R. Shifflett of Greenwood, Robert E. Shifflett of Batesville, Frederick L. and Daniel D. Shifflett of Charlottesville and David E. Shifflett, stationed with the U.S. Air Force in Waco, Texas. Four daughters, Mrs. Wayne Rice of Newport News, Mrs. Elvin Farmer of Richmond, Mrs. Robert B. Gibson of Crozet and Mrs. William F. Via of Ivy; four brother, Clarence L. Moyer of Leesburg, James O. Moyer of Shipman, Jacob A. Moyer of Crozet and Arthur W. Moyer of Greenwood; four sisters, Mrs. J.W. Smith of Richmond, Mrs. Leone C. Sly of Shipman, Mrs. Annie W. Gore Purcellville and Mrs. Mary J. Foster of Charlottesville; and 22 grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Preddy-Teague Funeral Chapel, with burial in Hillsboro Church cemetery at Yancey Mill.
