Marion L. "Sonny" Allen Jr., 68, of Zickafoose Lane, Chillicothe, died 10:10 p.m. Sunday, February 14, 1999, in the Adena Regional Medical Center unexpectedly.
He was born March 4, 1930, in Ross County, to the late Marion L. Sr. and Geraldine Cox Allen. He was married September 28, 1973, to Phyllis K. Atwood who survives.
Also surviving are daughters, Connie J. Allen, at home and Janet K. Morris, Chillicothe; son, Mark D. Allen, Chillicothe; son and daughter-in-law, John R. and Kathy Hudak, Amanda, Ohio; grandchildren, Lindsay M. Allen, Daniel L. Allen and Jesseca E. Allen; sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Carl Arledge; sisters, Patricia L. Allen, Jean Allen and Kathleen Caplinger, all of Chillicothe; brothers and sisters-in-law, John W. and Nancy Allen and Randy R. and Pam Allen, all of Chillicothe; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Larry Richard Allen; and a sister, Sherry Harper.
Sonny had servied in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and the China Theatre aboard the U.S.S. Essex. He retired from GE in Circleville in 1979 and was a member of the American Legion Post 134 of Circleville and a member of its Honor Guard.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Open Bible Baptist Church, Toledo St., with Rev. Gary Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens where there will be military graveside rites conducted by the American Legion Post 134 Honor Guard. Friends may call at the Ware Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday (today).
