Darrell died as a result of a two-car accident on Highway 63 near the Park Boulevard overpass in Ottumwa.

He was born February 2, 1952, in Ottumwa to Albert Allen and Julia (Pearson) Allen. He was adopted by Floyd (Jack) and Eleanor M. Pearson Saner. (Note - Eleanor was the sister of Darrell and his twin brother Dean’s mother, Julia.)

Darrell was a lifelong resident of Ottumwa. He graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1970 and from Ottumwa Heights College in 1974. He attended Drake University. He was an employee of the M.L. Van Flossan Construction Company and a member of the First Lutheran Church.

He was survived by his foster father and his stepmother, Gladys, both of Route 6; two brothers, Dean of Ottumwa and Craig Allen of Waterloo; one sister, Mrs. Rosemary Oliver of Phoenix, Arizona; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Allen of Ottumwa and Mrs. Lola Saner of Kansas City, Mo.; and his fiancé, Diane Hindman of Ottumwa.

He was preceded in death by his foster mother and by his natural parents.
