Howard Lee (Bo) Morris

Howard Lee (Bo) Morris of Llano, TX. was peacefully called home to be with his Heavenly Father July 20, 2015.

He was born in Liberty, TX. December 27, 1928 to Lee Howard and Nellie (Word) Morris. He was the youngest of six children.

Howard graduated from Liberty High School and later enlisted in the United States Navy. He met his future wife, Bonnie Towler in 1950 and they were married on February 2, 1952.

He worked for Hughes Tool Company in Houston and also attended the University of Houston where he received his radio and television degree. In 1962 he and one of his brothers along with their families moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico to open an auto parts store, Morris Auto Supply. He enjoyed the climate, beauty of the mountains and the abundance of friends that he made while living there. But the greatest blessing of all was when his son, Lon, was born. In 1970 it was time to move back to Texas, he moved his family to Longview and went to work for Clark Lift, a fork lift company, as parts manager.

He started visiting the jail in Longview and later became a volunteer Chaplin for the Michael Unit in Tennessee Colony, TX. He devoted his time to the prisoners there for 25 years, they all called him “Pop”. They would ask him what made a successful marriage and his response was what he called “the three c’s”; Christ, commitment and communication. Howard loved to play golf and when he retired he was able to play as much golf as he desired. He and his wife Bonnie moved to Llano in 2003. They attended the Llano Cowboy Church, he loved the Lord and his motto was Christ first, others second and him third.
When his first granddaughter, Taryn, was born she was the “apple of his eye”, then he was blessed with another granddaughter, Emma. She became his “special angel”.

He had an undying love for his family. Howard was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, two brothers, three nephews and two nieces.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, of 63 years, his son, Lon Morris of Llano, and two granddaughters, Taryn and Emma, both of Llano, sister in law Hazel Morris of Crosby, TX and a host of nieces and nephews.

To honor his request, no services are planned at this time. A celebration of his life will be planned in the near future.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Llano Cowboy Church, or a charity of your choice.
