Cora Annabell Gooch was the fifth child of John Thomas and Sarah Ann Elizabeth Rutherford Gooch. She was born in Henderson County, Tennessee. Her family relocated to Arkansas in 1880 traveling both by covered wagons pulled by oxen and by train. They initially moved to Jasper, Arkansas but moved to Yell County after a few years where her father established a prosperous farm known as Gooch Hill, before the family finally settled in the Haskell community in Saline County, Arkansas.

She married Oscar W. Guest on July 15, 1894 and together they had three children:
Orvel George (July 25, 1895-June 29, 1966)
Ida Mae (January 10, 1896 - December 20, 1970)
Wiley Ward (December 17, 1899 - 1956)

Oscar died after 1900. Cora and her children lived with her younger sister Coriner and brother-in-law Isaac Guest for a time before she married Lewis Jackson "Jack" Crain, a widower. on January 6, 1902.
He had two daughters from his first marriage, Hattie and Ella.
They worked hard and had a prosperous farm. Together they had six more children:
Jack Henderson "Hence" (October 22, 1902-May 1974)
Alfred Hugh (August 23, 1904-Sept 11, 1990)
Ona Ora (1906-June 17, 1957)
Raye Lee (November 23, 1909-December 11, 1991)
John Elton (May 29, 1911-June 13, 1999)
Birt Elmer (June 17, 1913-June 23, 1996)

Jack Crain passed away in 1929 and Cora married a final time to John W. Hobson on April 4, 1934. He preceded her in death as well. Cora Annabell Gooch Guest Crain Hobson lived a long, full life and passed from this world on May 15, 1956.
