On July 28, 2015, Wayne passed away at the Harper Hospital at the age of ninety-two years and twenty-six days.

Samuel Wayne Easter was born July 2, 1923 in Carter, Oklahoma, son of Grover Cleveland and Jessie B. (Thompson) Easter.

On August 17, 1952, Wayne was united in marriage with Naomi Victoria Mathes at Naomi’s grandmother’s house in Harper, Kansas. They spent the next 62 years and 11 months devoted to one another.

Wayne served in the United States Army in the 96th Infantry during World War II. His son, Danny, followed in his footsteps, serving in the Vietnam War, giving them a special bond.

Wayne was a farmer his entire life.

He was a jack of all trades and worked in numerous other types of businesses, the last 15 years he worked at Hostetler Supply selling Hustler Mowers, his dream job.

He was a member of the Church of Christ and VFW Jeff Long Post #11449.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister; and brothers: Delbert, Cleveland, Damon and Clovis.

Wayne will be deeply missed by his wife, Naomi of Harper; children: Richard and wife, Iona of Lawrence, KS, Danny and wife, Kathy of Mulvane, KS, Dianna Zerwas and husband, Joe of Harper and Larry and wife, Brenda, also of Harper; sister, Ella Mae Oehme of Texas; nine grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
