He retired from Pittsburgh City Firefighters in 1984. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 615 and served as commander for two terms. He belonged to the Pittsburgh Shriners Club as well as the Masons. He loved to ride his Harley Davidson. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served our country during the Korean Conflict. He also earned his nickname “Bo” during his time in the Army when he learned to box. He enjoyed music and played the accordion, organ and harmonica. His greatest love in life was his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Susan Schweller (Mark) of Springboro, Sharon Hillebrecht (Robert) of Pittsburgh, Sandra Leupold Bartholomew (Jim) of Springboro and Robert Leupold (Pam) of Linesville; a brother, Robert Leupold (Elaine) of Springboro; seven grandchildren, Tami DeSabato (Chris), Trisha Hoover (Scott), Bill Braden (Kim), Denise Gabel (Evan), Brian Braden (Erin), Taylor and Sydney Leupold; 12 great-grandchildren, Justin, Joey, Ashton, Brandon, Colton, Aurora, Braden, Logan, Austin, Luca, Abby and Griffin; and a niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister and brother-in-law, Audrey and Joseph Liberi.
Interment will be at Beaver Center Cemetery with the Erie/Crawford Burial Detail providing military honors.
