Carolyn Schmidt, age 74, of La Grande, died December 2, 2014 in Boise, Idaho. A funeral will be held on Monday, December 8, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the La Grande Church of the Nazarene. Interment will follow at the Island City Cemetery. Those who wish may make contributions in her memory to the Church of the Nazarene Youth. Arrangements are entrusted to Daniels~.Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center.

Carolyn was born on August 25, 1940, the daughter of Edwin and Gerita Geraldine (Cameron) Alexander in La Grande, Oregon. She graduated from La Grande High School with the class of 1958. She attended Northwest Nazarene College for one year before moving to Portland where she was secretary to the President of Portland State University. On November 25, 1969 she married Gerald Schmidt. They made their home in La Grande and she worked as secretary for President David Gilbert at Eastern Oregon University until his retirement. She was a member of the La Grande Church of the Nazarene and a former member of Soroptimist. She enjoyed knitting and loved to read. Her church family was special to her and she never missed an occasion to send a greeting card to remember a special day.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry Schmidt of La Grande; sons, Dan Schmidt of Goldbar, Washington and Gregory and Eric Schmidt both of Nampa, Idaho' sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Keith Langley of McCall, Idaho; eight grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
