David Paul Bechner, age 70, Fergus Falls MN, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2015, at the VA Medical Center in Fargo ND.
David was born on March 24, 1945, in St Paul MN, to Carl and Eleanor (Reed) Bechner.
He grew up and attended school in St Paul and graduated from Washington High School in 1963. After high school, he worked at a filling station until he was drafted into the US Army on November 15, 1965. He served his basic training in Fort Carson CO, and trained at Fort Mead MA, before serving in Vietnam. He served until his discharge in August, 1967.
David returned and worked at the filling station operating heavy equipment and then worked for various companies doing construction. In 1990, he moved to Wee Town, MN (close to Fergus Falls) and operated the Wee Town Speedway with a partner. He also worked for Minn-Dak Farmers Coop in Wahpeton ND, until his retirement in 2008. Retirement didn't keep him too long though because he went back to work part time for Walmart in Fergus Falls and then started his own business called "Dave's Driveway Service".
