Maxine Elva Yancey Stone
March 13, 1918 - July 27, 2015
Maxine Elva Yancey Stone, age 97, of Stockton, CA, died peacefully at her home on Monday,
July 27, 2015. She was born March 13, 1918 in Groveland, Idaho, the fifth of eight children born to James Henry and Effie Jane Cobbley Yancey. Maxine married Max David Stone on January 11, 1939 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. In 1946 they moved to Stockton where they raised five daughters. Max
preceded her in death on July 1, 1999.
Maxine is survived by her five daughters: Joyce Godi (Art), Jeanne Troger (Pete), Lynda Sheffield (Jim), Loretta Nielson (Gary), Marilyn Allen (Jay), and her brother Harold Yancey. Maxine had 22 grandchildren, two of whom preceded her in death, Michael Godi and David Sheffield. Maxine also left behind 68 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
Her life was full of service to her family, her Church and her friends. Maxine never complained and was always serving her family and others when she could. She was known to be a kind, genuine and unselfish person. In addition to raising her daughters, she helped over a dozen exchange students from Europe and the Pacific Islands.
Maxine served in many callings at her Church in Stockton, including Young Women's leader, Relief Society President and
Primary President.
The family would like to thank Maxine's caregivers: Koko Miyai, Georgia Stewart, Isidora Aqui, Keree Roen, Joanie McCulloch, Amy Roen and Sharee Hernandez. They will never know how much it meant to all of us knowing that our Mother was in such good hands and cared for with love and compassion.
Maxine will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
Visitation will be at DeYoung Shoreline Chapel, 7676 Shoreline Drive, Stockton, CA from
12-5 pm on Friday, July 31

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday August 1, 2015 at the LDS Chapel located at 7030 North El Dorado Street, Stockton, CA. There will be a viewing prior to the service from 9:45-10:45 am in the Relief Society room at the LDS Chapel.
