Maria Catharina Ferdinardina Daum was born 21 August 1838 in Korbecke, Prussia which is now part of Germany to William and Anna Marie Elizabeth Kneer Daum. She came to America and married John Leonard Zeller the 2 April 1858 in Mt. Vernon, Indiana. Their oldest child John Jacob was born in 1859, second was Frank in 1860, he died 1n 1863, third was Maria 1862-1873, fourth was Leonora 1864-1868, fifth was George 1867-1877, sixth was Norbert 1869, seventh was Fredrick 1871, and eighth was Charles William 1874.
While John was away serving in the Civil War Maria raised the family until John came home after being released from the Confederate prison Andersonville in Georgia.
In their later years they moved to Yelm, Washington where they are buried. Maria died age 77 years 7 months.
