Alice L. (Strike) Harriger, 86, of Gering, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Chimney Rock Villa in Bayard. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Jones Mortuary in Mitchell. Inurnment will follow at a later day. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place per Alice’s wishes. Memorials may be made to the Chimney Rock Villa window fund.

Alice was born February 14, 1925 in Redfield, Iowa to John and Grace (McAtee) Strike. She married Lou E. Harriger on September 9, 1942. Throughout the years she worked as a waitress, nurse’s aide, and loving mother to her family. She enjoyed embroidery work and crossword puzzles.

Survivors include her daughters, Dedra (Leon) Thomas of Oklahoma City, OK and Peggy (Ron Reifschneider) Hall of Minatare; sons, Dennis (Vicky) Harriger of Gering and Richard ( Peggy) Harriger of Gering; granddaughters, Laura (Bruce) Klein of Los Angeles , CA and Tonja (Chris) Meyer of Sheridan, Wyoming; grandsons, David (Sherry) DeHaven of Greer, SC and Kevin (Staci) Harriger of Gering; brother in law, Hal (Dorothy) Harriger ; sister in law, Myrta (Frank) Fairchild and Margaret Harriger; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Grace Strike; husband, Lou; infant daughter, Janella Jean and an infant son; infant grandchild, Leteisha Ann Russell; sisters, Irene and Ivadel; and brother, Robert.
