Darrell D. Dreiling, 68, died July 24, 2015, at Dillon Living Center, after a long battle with A.L.S. He was born June 29, 1947, the son of Alex and Regina Lang Dreiling.

He was a graduate of St. Teresa’s High School, Hutchinson Community College, the University of Kansas and the University of Kansas, School of Law. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Cross, and was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed KU sports, HCC sports, the NJCAA Tournament, and was an avid gardener, reader and fisherman. He worked as a Chemist for SDK Laboratories for 21 years. Whenever you visited with him you always went away knowing something you didn’t know before. He was a great inspiration to anyone who knew him and he will be greatly missed.

He is survived by: his sister, Marilyn Pinkerton, Wichita; brother, Larry (Nina) Dreiling, Inman; sister, Shirley (Dennis) Hogan, Hutchinson; brother-in-law, Jesse Garcia, Hutchinson; nephews, Vern and Mark Minor, Matt Hogan; nieces, Bonnie James, Jodi Strack, Shannon McCormick; and many great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Antoinella Garcia.

Parish Rosary will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of the Holy Cross, Hutchinson. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Ned Blick celebrating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Hutchinson. Memorials may be given to the Jerry Lewis M.D. Clinic, or to Trinity Catholic High School, both in care of the funeral home. Visit www.hutchinsonfc.com to leave the family a personal message.
