Ruel was a member of Co. L of Wisconsin's 3rd Regiment Cavalry. He entered service Nov. 7, 1861, at Grove (Bowers), Walworth County, Wis. He died of disease at Fayetteville, Ark., Feb. 9, 1863. He was a sergeant at the time of his death.
