George W. Abney, 93, Dearborn, Mich., died at 5 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, 1962, in a Dearborn hospital after a short illness.
Born Aug. 27, 1869, in Virginia, Ill., son of Mr. and Mrs. Frances M. Abney. Lived six years in Dearborn, moving there from Rockford. Married to the former Myrtle Stewart in Beardstown, Ill., Feb. 22, 1903. She died in December, 1953. Employed as a night watchman by Mattison Machine Works when he lived in Rockford.
Survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Albert Felice, with whom he lived at Dearborn, and Mrs. Marie Sager, Seattle, Wash.; four grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Kathryn Davis, Rockford, Mrs. Jessie Berg, Rockford; a brother, Ralph Abney, Rockford. Two sons, George AbneyJr., and Elmer Abney, died earlier.
Services at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Long-Klontz Funeral Home. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
