C. Nelson Parker, Sr., 93, of Madisonville, TX passed away at his home on July 22, 2015. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, July 25th at 10AM at Day Funeral Home Chapel in Madisonville. Brother Lanier Stevens and Reverend Patricia Wehn-Glowski will officiate. A visitation is scheduled for Friday, July 24, 2015 from 5-7PM at Day Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Greenbriar Cemetery. Nelson was born on December 30, 1921 in Houston County to Leonard and Lilly (Brown) Parker. He retired from The State of Texas and was a member of The First United Methodist Church of Madisonville and previously Elwood Methodist Church. He was a very active member and through the years served as Chairman of the Board, Sunday School Superintendent, Youth Director and in various other capacities. He was also an avid gardener and outdoorsman. Nelson was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, L. Ruth (Colwell) Parker; his children, Geneva Martinka and husband, Bernie, Judy Bradshaw and husband, Casey, and Clyde Parker, Jr. and wife, Cathy; his grandchildren, Gena Smith, Laura Kennedy, Sunny Simons, Mindy Crouch, Sarah Bradshaw, Amie Parker, and Bud Parker; brother, Ceburn Parker and wife, Bonnie; and sister, Reba Pryor; great grandchildren: Jordan Pena, Trevor Smith, Reid and Ruth Rodriguez, Jackson, Abbey, Michael, Macie, Jesse, Corley Crouch, Danielle Rasmussen, Brandon, Jonny and Nicholas Simons, two great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Marie Douga and Ruby Ledbetter for their love and support through Nelson’s extended illness.
