Brigham City- Our loving husband, father, uncle and friend, Earl Lloyd Gray, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 22, 2015. Earl was born on April 29, 1925 to Ida Ball and Lloyd Bertram Gray in Lehi Utah. Earl was raised in Lehi and graduated from Lehi High School. During his High School years, he lettered in tennis and football like his son Brent.
After High School, Earl was drafted into the Marine Corps and served during WWII. Following his service he utilized the G.I. Bill to further his education at Brigham Young University, where he graduated with a Master’s of Science in Chemistry. While attending BYU he met Amaryllis Gaither (Billie). They married on June 4, 1948 and a year later were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple by Apostle Harold B Lee.
After graduating from BYU he moved to Washington State to pursue his PhD in Chemistry. During this time he was offered a job with Convair in Fort Worth, Texas. Soon after moving to Texas Billie and Earl were blessed with Pamela and later on Bryan.
In 1958 Earl accepted a position with Thiokol as Material Development Manager. The family relocated to Box Elder County. They lived a few months in Bear River City and then rented on the West side of Brigham, while waiting the completion of their new home on 500 East. In 1959 they received an early Christmas present with “Baby Brent.”
