JANESVILLE, Wis. - Paul Ames Bishop, 76, of Janesville died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006, at Rock Haven. Paul was born May 14, 1929, in Avalanche, Wis., the son of Arthur and Gunda (Borrison) Bishop. He graduated from Viroqua (Wis.) High School. Paul joined the Air Force and served as a radio operator in Guam during the Korean War. Following the Air Force, Paul worked in Milwaukee as a building contract estimator, and then came back to the Viroqua area and went to work in the building/home construction business Paul was also active in the Boy Scouts of America as a leader. On July 15, 1960, he married Dorothy Rusk Geddes. Paul continued to work as a carpenter/builder for a number of years in Viroqua, then in the Richland Center, Wis., area. While living in Richland Center, Paul went to work for the State of Wisconsin as a Safety and Building Inspector. This employment took the family to new locations - Black River Falls, Wis., La Crosse and then the Madison area. Paul continued his employment with the state in various supervisory capacities until his retirement. Following his retirement, he cared for his wife; Dorothy, at home through her struggles with Alzheimer's disease until her death in 2001. He became involved in the Alzheimer's Support Center. Paul was a member of the Roxbury Road Church of Christ. Paul is survived by two children, Stephen (Lynn) Geddes of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Vicki (Thomas) Bouziane of Janesville; four grandchildren, Emily Geddes of Philadelphia, Pa., Andrew Geddes of Las Vegas, Nev., Alexander (Andrea) Bouziane of Killeen, Texas (serving with the Army in Kuwait/Iraq), and Katharine "Katie" Bouziane at home in Janesville; a brother, Gerald (Doris) Bishop of Florida; and three nieces, Susan (Cary) Link, Linda Arnold and Beth Bishop. In addition to his wife, Dorothy; and his parents, Arthur and Gunda; he was preceded in death by a brother, Gordon; and a sister, Genevieve Rhodes. Visitation will be held Monday, Feb. 20, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, 1010 N. Wright Road, Janesville. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor David Fremstad officiating. Military rites will be performed by Kienow-Hilt VFW Post 1621. Following cremation, a graveside service will be held in the Viroqua (Wis.) Cemetery at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, with Pastor Joseph Adams officiating.
