Nathaniel Wheeler Collinsworth was born April 16, 1849, in Stilesville, Morgan County, Indiana. At this time little else is known about him. He and Nancy Horner were married April 14, 1872, in Stilesville, Indiana.*1 He was a member of the Baptist Church. He was a farmer. In 1880, Nancy and Nathaniel came to Kansas in a covered wagon, probably to homestead when lands were opened up by the Government to Settlers. Two of their seven children; Janie born in 1873 and Pirlman born in 1875, were born in Stilesville, Ind., before coming to Kansas. Rosa, born in 1880 in Alamead, was the first of their children to be born in Kansas. They moved to a place near Lucas, Kansas, to farm where the remainder of their children were born. It is unknown at this time if they built their own house or if they moved into one that was already there.

Nathaniel Collinsworth played the violin. One of the family photos shows him with it. His granddaughter, Estella Thouvenell Hooker, told about her grandmother, Nancy Collinsworth, who churned butter to be sold in town to earn extra money for the family. Since she wanted as much as possible to sell, she would tell her husband, "Dip light with the butter,' Nate', Dip light with the butter", whenever they were eating a meal.
In 1914, they moved to Payette, Idaho, and later moved to New Plymouth, Idaho, where they farmed and grew vegetables and fruits. They remained in Idaho until their deaths. Nancy died in 1936 and Nathaniel died in 1946 and is buried in Parkview Cemetery, Payette County, Idaho.
