DOUBLE FUNERAL FOR CUPPS WEDNESDAY
Funeral services for Mr. & Mrs. Sam Cupp were held Nov. 19 at the Assembly of God Church in Marceline. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Marceline. The couple died in an auto accident Nov. 15 near Bonaparte, Iowa. The car carrying the Ft. Madison, Iowa, couple and their three children went out of control on a curving blacktop and rolled over four times pinning Mrs. Cupp beneath the auto. All five were thrown from the vehicle. Two sons of the Cupps, Samuel Jr. and Brian LeRoy are reported in satisfactory condition at a Keosauqua, Iowa, hospital. Their daughter, in the same hospital, critically injured, was reported as improved on Tuesday of this week.
Samuel Jackson Cupp, son of Mrs. Jeanette Cupp of Marceline, was born Dec. 31, 1945 in Marceline. He was a graduate of Marceline schools and was employed for a time at his brother's garage and service station before moving to Iowa.
Joyce Ann Cupp, daughter of George Lee and Kathryn Burriss, was born Mar. 23, 1946 near Mendon. She was a graduate of Elmer High School. They were married May 10, 1964.
Mr. Cupp is survived by his mother; five brothers, Bob, Ben and Jack, all of Marceline, John of Brookfield, and Riley Dale of Charleston, South Carolina; two sisters, Mrs. Billie Rose Sprague and Mrs. Donna Jean Chrisman, both of Marceline.
Survivors of Mrs. Cupp are her mother and step-father, Kathryn and Earnest Peek; her father, George Lee Burriss of Norborne; four brothers, George Henry Burriss of Donnellson, Iowa, Howard P. Burriss, Denzil Burriss of Ft. Meade, Maryland, and William Wayne Burriss with the armed forces in Vietnam; half-sisters and brothers, Dianne, Kathy, Samuel and Larry Peek of St. Catherine; and step-brothers and step-sisters, Georgia Swallow of Pontiac, Michigan, Joyce Woods of California, William and Bobby Joe Peek of Kansas City; grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Jess Burris; and step-grandmother, Mrs. Georgia Peek, all of Marceline; and grandmother, Ella Shay of Elwood, Kansas.
