The son of Charles S. and Sophia Seaman Ellis, he was born Aug. 17, 1906 in Van Buren County. On June 20, 1943, he married Lois Mary Schnelle. She died in 1962. An infant daughter, Anita, also preceded him in death. He graduated from Keosauqua High School in 1927. Mr. Ellis farmed in Van Buren County throughout his lifetime.
He is survived by a daughter, Ellen Rae Ellis, a teacher in the Missouri State School for the Blind at St. Louis; by his parents who live in Ames and by one sister, Mrs. Irene McBurney of Ames.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1969 in the Keosauqua Chrisitian Church with the Rev. Howard McPeak officiating. Burial was in Fellows Cemetery at Keosauqua
