M. JANE GARLITZ CORRIGANVILLE — Mary Jane Garlitz, 91, of Corriganville, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. Born Oct. 8, 1923, in Cumberland, Mrs. Garlitz was the daughter of the late William Howard Emerick and Edith (Watts) Emerick. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. Garlitz, 1985; her brothers and sisters, Paul Emerick, William Emerick, Catherine Emerick, Marguerite Wisler, Emily Retallick, Billy Emerick, Donald Emerick, and Edith Joann See; and a daughter-in-law, Sue Garlitz. A graduate of Allegany High School, class of 1941, Jane was a former sales associate for J.C. Penney where she retired after 15 years of service. She was a member of Saint John's United Church of Christ. She was also a member of the McKinley Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, and a former member of the Corriganville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, where she served as past president. Jane is survived by her sons, Joseph E. Garlitz II, Suffolk, Va., and James E. "Jim" Garlitz and wife, Donna, Corriganville; and her sister, Leanna Lehndorff and husband, Bill, Media, Pa. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Michelle Alcorn and husband, Tim, Melissa Garlitz, James E. Garlitz II, and Dawn Marie Long and, husband, Sam; her great-grandchildren, Ben Alcorn, Emma Alcorn, Claire Alcorn, and Allison Grace Long; as well as, numerous nieces and nephews.
