DIED AT HOME IN THIS CITY LAST FRIDAY

Hon. David Bennett Sain

Succumbed to Effects of Stroke of Paralysis - Burial Held in This City Saturday Afternoon

Hon. David Bennett Sain died at the family home on South Washington street in this city last Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock, his death resulting from a stroke of paralysis which he suffered some days before his death. He was apparently in splendid health and was returning to his office after dinner when he was struck. Since he suffered the stroke he had been very low and never fully regained consciousness. Funeral services were conducted at the First Baptist church in this city Saturday afternoon by the Revs. E. B. Brown and F. P. Doak, and burial was held in Nashville cemetery.

Mr. Sain, who was 67 years of age, was one of the best known attorneys in the state, having practiced for the past thirty years. During his career he was extended many honors by the state bar association, but was never of the political type. In his young life he was several times elected to municipal and township offices, and was at one time editor of The Nashville News.

Mr. Sain was born in [Tuscaloosa] county, Ala., in 1855, and after moving around with his parents to several places, came to Nashville to make his home in 1879. During his early life, while studying law, he was a school teacher, and many of his old pupils are scattered around this part of the state.

In 1881 Mr. Sain was married to Miss Ellen Merrill of this city, and to this union was born six children, all of whom are living and were present when the end came. They are: J. G., Ben and Jett, Mrs. Lillie Swicegood of this city; Edgar Sain of Hope and Mrs. Headricks Pope of Dallas, Texas. Besides these Mr. Sain is survived by his wife and one brother, R. R. Sain of Texarkana.

The many warm friends of deceased over the state will greatly regret to learn of his death.
