Anina "Ann" (Valentine) Battering, 57, died at 8:20 PM Monday, June 9, 1997, in her daughter's Lafayette home. Born Sept. 27, 1939, at Mount Vernon, NY, she had been a resident of Lafayette since April 24, coming from Haines City, FL. She married Lee Roy Battering on Aug. 18, 1974, in Attica; he survives. Mrs. Battering worked for H.P.I. Laundry in Haines City until retiring in December 1996.

Also surviving are two daughters, Charlene (Mrs. Stephen) Bresnahan, with whom she lived, and Linda (Mrs. Gene) Nowell, both of Lafayette; two sons, Charles Clifton of Lafayette and Michael Battering of Haines City, FL; a stepdaughter, Cathy Battering of Winter Haven, FL; a brother, Henry Valentine, Jr. of California; her father, Henry Valentine, Sr. of Mesa, AZ; and 14 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Battering.
