Another son of Seth & Mary Randall Hammond where records of birth, death and burial are not available. Jonathan was born about 1716.

It is believed that Jonathan moved from Massachusetts to Dutchess County, NY with some of his cousins and from there followed the Hudson River up to Washington County, prior to the Revolutionary War. There is a tradition in the family descended from his grandson, Ebenezer Hammond, that the family was from Dutchess County, but as the date of removal to Washington County is unknown, and the date of Ebenezer's death had not been learned, there is no certainty about his place of birth.
