TUPELO - Henry E. 'Ed' Harper, 62, retired Army command sergeant major, died Thursday at North Mississippi Medical Center after a heart attack.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors in Tupelo with burial and full military honors in Lee Memorial Park.

He had served two tours of duty as an adviser to the Mississippi National Guard, was a 32nd-degree Mason, a Shriner, a member of First United Methodist Church and a longtime member of Natc hez Trace Golf Club, which he managed from 1973 to 1979.

Mr. Harper, the husband of Jean Harper, also leaves a daughter, Kayla Harper of Richland, Wash.; a son, H. Cliff Harper of Houston, Texas; a sister, Claudia Ralls of Orange Park, Fla., and two grandchildren.
