James Wright, formerly of Newberry RD#2 was instantly killed late last night when the car he was operating south down the mountain on the Montgomery Pike crashed and was demolished. The accident occurred shortly after midnight and Wright was dead before Dr. W. E. Turned, Montgomery, reached the scene. He was said to have suffered a crushed skull and a fractured arm. Pennsylvania Motor Police, Privates Frank M. Miller and W. J. Carson, said Wright was pinned under the large sedan, and that although the vehicle had burned, his body had escaped the flames. According to the police, the cause of the accident was unknown. They reported the car left the highway on the right, crashed over a four-foot embankment, traveled 40 feet through the trees then crashed head-on into one. The vehicle was pointed at right angles to the highway when it came to rest. The scene of the mishap was approximately half way down the south side of the mountain. Wright's body was removed from the scene by the police officers and Dr. Thomas C. Brandon, deputy coroner. Dr. Brandon said there will be no inquest, as indications are the mishap was purely accidental. Wright, who recently moved to Montgomery R.D., was said to be returning to his home from work in this city. His body was turned over to a Montgomery undertaker. The Montgomery Fire Department was called to the scene to fight the fire. The police will continue the investigation today.
