From this union were six children: George, James, Hattie, Bessie, and John. Amanda and Sam also had a daughter who was born on 28 Mar 1891 and died on 03 Apr 1891, aged six days. She was listed in both the birth and death registers for Washington County, Virginia, simply as a white, female "not named." Lastly, Amanda was listed in the 1900 Johnson City, Washington County, TN Census as a widow. The census stated that she had birthed six children, five of whom were still living and she and her children were listed (showing the five children as named above). It is inferred then, that Sam died sometime before 1900.
