Henry Maston Center was born January 15, 1892 in Lassen County, California, one of nine children born to Labe Center and Mary Loomis. Henry was first enumerated in the 1900 census of Alturas, Modoc County, California at the age of 8. He was living with his mother and three of his siblings. Five of his siblings had died prior to the census. His mother was listed as married, but Henry's father was not enumerated with the family.
On June 15, 1919 in Butte, California, Henry married Ruth Irene Layton. The couple moved to Contra Costa County, California where two children are known to have been born. Henry was working at a blacksmith shop in 1917. He later became a bridge contractor for Contra Costa County and then he became the County Superintendent of Road Maintenance.
Henry preceded his wife in death on October 18, 1981 at the age of 89. His place of burial is unknown.
