He was born October 15, 1915 in Salt Lake City to Herbert Thomas and Ruby McEwan Livesey.
He married his sweetheart, Ruth Ellen Hansen, on August 26, 1940 in Salt Lake City. They were later sealed in the Hawaiian Temple.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Alvin and Jack; and his three sisters, Helen Peck, Mina Woodmansee, and June Morris.
He was a faithful member of the LDS Church and served in many callings, including Bishop, High Council, and Temple Worker. His favorite calling was teaching a class.
He was an avid sports fan, especially baseball. His favorite pastimes were reading good books, especially history and poetry and listening to good music. He liked to be with people and had many friends. He dedicated his life to his family.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; three daughters, Joan Johnson, Phoenix; Karla Laing, Salt Lake City; and Jenean Livesey, California; and eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Stephanie, Megan, Andy, Brady, Scott, Laura, and Krista.
The family would like to extend their thanks to Dr. Bonnie Lee and the Home Care Centers for their skilled care and compassionate services.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 10, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. in the Salt Lake Twenty-Fifth Ward Chapel, 1145 West 500 South. Friends may call at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple Street, on Friday, July 9, 1999 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday.
Interment: Salt Lake City Cemetery.
