Mrs. Dale Wood's Mother Passes Away In Texas
Ella Smith Alair was born Feb. 7, 1864 in Plattburg, Mo. She departed this life August 3, 1940 at Morton, Texas in the home of her daughter, Mrs. C.S. Phillips.
She was united in marriage with William Michel Alair July 29, 1883, who preceded her in death Oct. 3, 1932. To this union eleven children were born, three having passed on before.
Those surviving are:P Edward W. Alair, Loveland, Ohio; Mrs. Mary Louis, Long Island, N.Y.; Thomas S. Alair, Hart, Texas; William R. Alair, Dodge City, Kansas; Mrs. Martha Phillips, Morton, Texas; Glenn E. Alair, Seminole, Okla.; Mrs. Gladys Wood, Colony, Okla.; Clay Alair, Oklahoma City' seventeen grandchildren and four great grandchildren, besides a host of other relatives and friends.
She confessed her faith in Christ in early childhood and joined the Christian church where she has led an active Christian life.
Ella came to Cleveland county with her husband as pioneers in 1889 where they lived on a farm seven miles west of Moore. In 1911 they moved to a farm at Walters, returning to Norman where they lived until his death in 1932. The remaining eight years she has spent visiting among her children, the thought and joy of her life.
To those who knew her, she will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother.
The body was brought to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dale Wood, four miles north of Eakly where funeral services were held, conducted by Rev. E.E. Sullens, pastor of the Methodist church. The remains were taken to Moore and laid to rest by the side of her husband.
