ROSA MAE HOLLAND HARRIS, 87, Hamilton, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2009. Born on June 18,1921, in Marion County, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Lee and Ida Avery Holland. She was a retired beautician. She was a member of the Hamilton Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, George Vachel Steele, daughter, Janice Davis, and brothers, Pelton, Permon, Preston, Amos, Gordon, Olen and Mack Holland.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 15, 2009, at 2 p.m. from the Hamilton Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery near Hodges. Regan Rye was the officiating minister.
Survivors include her husband - Audrey Harris; sister - Nell Brown, Columbus, MS.; brother - R.B. Holland, Hodges; sons - Charles Steele, Birmingham, and Rodney (Paulette) Steele, Hamilton; daughter - Alice (W.J.) Hornsby, Phil Campbell; son-in-law - Jerry (Elizabeth) Davis, Tuscumbia; step-daughters - Theresa Thompson and Audrey Jo Harris, both of Hamilton, both of Hamilton, and Felicia (Tony) Self, Brilliant; step-son- Robert Gann, Hamilton; grandchildren - Barry (Dawn) Hornsby, Regina (Brian) Stancil, Jeff (Catherine) Steele, Leslie Grill, Rece (Leigh) Davis, Tiffany (Jason) Norris, Chad (Pam) Steele and Wesley (April) Steele; step-grandchildren - Kyle (Carrie) Self, Joey Self, Micah (Erin) Thompson and Janella (Rusty) Richardson; 26 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers were her grandsons.
Hamilton Funeral Home directed the services.
