Helen Beatrice Alt, 97 of Connellsville died Tuesday, July 14, 2015 in the Greensburg Care Center. She was born January 14, 1918 in Philadelphia a daughter of the late Joseph G. and Edna Evans Crosby. Helen lived in Philadelphia for 28 years and resided in Connellsville since 1946. She was a retired secretary and bookkeeper for Mutual of Omaha in Philadelphia and she was a self employed artist. Helen graduated from West Philadelphia Girls High School in 1935 and she took many art courses at Penn State University, University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg, the Greensburg Art Club and privately from Sybilla Spurgeon of Uniontown, Joan Croft-Jones and Sue Pollins of Greensburg and Patrick Daugherty of Uniontown and Penn State. During W.W. II she volunteered as an anti aircraft supervisor working 4 hour shifts and she received medals from the U.S. Coast Artillery and the Army Air Force. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church and its Christian Mothers. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America # 260, Laurel Art Club, Uniontown Art Club and the Highlands Hospital Auxiliary. Helen was a local artist, best known for her painting of the old B&O station and covers of five Pennsylvania Chronicles by Ceane O'Hanlon Lincoln. She received the distinguished citizen award from the Connellsville Chamber of Commerce in 2005. She served twice as CDA Regent and she served 20 plus years as a volunteer for Connellsville State General Hospital and Highlands Hospital. She is survived by two sons, William Warmuth and his wife Cristine and John L. Warmuth of Connellsville; one daughter Joan Cole and her husband Richard of Salem, Ohio; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her first husband James H. Burton, her second husband John D. Warmuth and her third husband John M. Alt; son, Lance Warmuth; three sisters, Dolores Maclean, Ruth Crosby and Kathryn Moffitt and two brothers, Joseph and John Crosby. Friends will be received from 2-4, 7-9 P.M. Friday in the Brooks Funeral Home, Inc., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville where a Blessing Service will be held on Saturday at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. in the Immaculate Conception R.C. Church with Rev.
