Mrs. Eliza J. Belt Brooks, 72, 221 Home Park boulevard, died at 8:30 p.m. yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. F.O. Hillman, in Decorah, Ia., where she went on a visit eight weeks ago. Death followed a stroke suffered several days ago. The body will be brought to Waterloo tonight.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in Petersen Bros.’ chapel, Rev. J. Arthur Young, pastor of First Methodist Episcopal church, officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood.
Mrs. Brooks was born Feb. 21, 1855, in Buchanan county, Iowa. She was married to Leonard Brooks at her home near Independence, Ia. They located at Lenox, Ia. and resided there for many years. Mr. Brooks died June 2, 1919, and his widow died on the eighth anniversary of his death.
Decedent came to Waterloo with her son, Charles B. Brooks, and family after the death of husband and father. She was a member of First Methodist Episcopal church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Hillman, Decorah, and Mrs. Ethel Doene, 503 1/2 Fourth street west; a son, Charles B., 221 Home Park boulevard, and two sisters, Mrs. S. W. Nicholson, Ladora, Ia., and Mrs. A.C. Richmond, Carthage, Mo.
