Vestal was born in Miami County to Milton and Georgia (Burk) Kendall. He married Edna M. Houtz on November 30, 1931 in Huntington, she passed away January 31, 2001. He was a lifetime farmer and a member of IOOF in LaFontaine Post 533.

He is survived by; two sons, Jerry Kendall (Nancy) and Larry Kendall (Rose) both of LaFontaine, a daughter, Mrs. Bud (Sally) Arven of LaFontaine, a brother, Jay Kendall of Florida, a sister, Mrs. Robert (Virginia) Harrell of Wabash, 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 7 step great grandchildren, and 1 step great great grandchild.

3 brothers, 2 sisters, and 1 grandson preceded him in death.
