Funeral services were held in the Methodist church at Ruthven. Eve Schall, pastor, officiated.
Miss Bertha Prather was born in Ruthven, March 18, 1903, and had made her home there all her life. She attended the Ruthven schools and for part of her high school senior year in the Spencer high school. Because of ill health Miss Prather was compelled to leave school. She worked for a year in the Bee Hive at Spencer, and during that time made her home with her cousins, Mr. and Mrs. R.L. Jones of east Second street. For the past five years, Miss Prather had been employed in the Berg & Brennan merchandise store.
She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. D.W. Prather of Ruthven, four sisters, Mrs. Faye Roberts of Royal, Mrs. Roy Broadie of Spirit Lake, Mrs. E.L. Archer and Miss Dorothy Prather of Ruthven, three brothers, Claude, Harold and Howard of Ruthven, besides numerous other relatives and a large circle of friends.
Miss Prather was a young lady of a sweet disposition and charming personality. She acquired a large circle of friends during her short stay in Spencer and those who came in contact with her say that to know her was to love her.
